FIFA Presents TRIONDA, the 2026 World Cup Match Ball
FIFA has officially unveiled TRIONDA, the match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. More than just a football, TRIONDA stands as a symbol of unity, innovation, and shared passion across three nations.
Designed by adidas, the ball’s name merges the words “tri” meaning three and “onda”, the Spanish word for wave, representing the powerful connection and energy flowing among the host countries. This is the first time in history that three nations will jointly host a World Cup, and TRIONDA captures that spirit through its design and technology.
Visually, the ball features a vibrant mix of red, green, and blue, reflecting the national colors of the host nations Canada’s maple leaf red, Mexico’s green eagle, and the United States’ blue stars. The sleek wave-inspired patterns symbolize movement, unity, and the rhythm of football across North America.
Beyond its striking design, TRIONDA is engineered for performance. It features a four-panel construction with deep seams for better control and aerodynamics. Embedded inside is an advanced 500Hz motion sensor chip, allowing real-time tracking of every pass, touch, and shot. This technology, first introduced in Qatar 2022, enhances accuracy for VAR (Video Assistant Referee) decisions and provides valuable data insights.

FIFA describes TRIONDA as “a celebration of connection, culture, and creativity.” The governing body emphasized that the ball embodies the shared dream of three countries coming together to host the world’s biggest sporting event.
The 2026 World Cup will expand to 48 teams and take place across 16 cities in North America, promising to be the most inclusive and technologically advanced tournament in FIFA’s history. With TRIONDA rolling into action, the countdown to kickoff has officially begun.
