On Friday 5th September 2025, the Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG), under the leadership of President Madam Juliana Storey, conducted an official engagement with the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, at the NSA head office in Accra.

The meeting served as a platform for the RLFG to formally present its leadership team, provide a comprehensive update on its developmental initiatives, and discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation with the NSA. Madam Storey extended gratitude for the Authority’s sustained support and highlighted the Federation’s key milestones, including grassroots expansion, youth engagement programs, international collaborations, and future strategic objectives.

A critical component of the discussions was the clarification of Rugby League’s distinct identity as a separate sporting code from Rugby Union. The Federation emphasized the unique rules, governance frameworks, and global affiliations that differentiate the two disciplines, reinforcing the importance of tailored support for Rugby League’s growth within Ghana’s sporting ecosystem.

In his remarks, Director-General Ampofo Ankrah lauded the RLFG for its remarkable advancements and exemplary governance practices. He particularly commended the Federation’s adherence to transparency in financial management, strategic branding, and operational efficiency, noting that its professionalism sets a benchmark for emerging sports federations in the nation.

Present at the meeting were, Mr. Marshall Nortey (RLFG Technical Director) Mr. Jafaru Awudu Mustapha (RLFG General Manager) Ms. Hilaria Wuaku, RLFG Communications Lead), Mr. James Odoi Wilson, (NSA (Greater Accra Technical Director)and Mr. Hubert Leo Mensah (NSA Acting Head of Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation).

The meeting ended in a mutual pledge to strengthen NSA-RLFG collaboration, with a shared vision of accelerating the development and visibility of Rugby League throughout Ghana.
